*This review is 100% my own opinion. It is a honest review.*We left off with Michael abandoning his duties to follow his heart and be with Lake. Now Zade is the one in charge. At a bar, Zade encounters Zephyr, a unique woman with colorful hair who is an automatic writer. She writes poetry and has no idea what it means. It often reveals secrets about people that they don't want her to know. When she lays eyes on Zade for the first time, a poem appears in her notebook that tells her "the path lies with dark eyes."In the previous story, we find out about a book the Fallen want so they can free Lucifer and let him have free reign over Earth and all souls. Well, Zephyr has written a book....I really liked the first story (Michael), but I loved this one ever more. The story continues where we ended it and it gets even better as the stakes rise. My two favorite characters are definitely Lake and Zephyr. They are different and developed so well. I also liked the peek into Zade's past that we were given.Another cliff-hanger ending, but the next story (Jophiel) is coming out soon. I already pre-ordered it! :)If you like angels, supernatural battles, action and suspense dig your talons into this series!NOTE: There are religious topics in these stories (homosexuality, abortion, atheism, etc.) I mention this only for anyone who doesn't like to read about these topics.

Zadekiel, the second installment in The Path of Angels, delivers just as much intensity and action as Michael did. Patricia Josephine does a wonderful job of creating rich characters whose strengths and weaknesses make them endearing. Zephyr's gift in this installment was one of my favorite nuances to the story. Strong follow-up to part one.

I read Michael, book 1 in the series, first, so I have a good grasp of this world and what’s happening. I think Ms. Josephine does an excellent job of world-building. She doesn’t waste a lot of time explaining every detail—she lets the story take care of it, for the most part. The second book both builds on and improves on the first one. I felt much more connected to the characters this time around. I loved Zephyr from the moment she walked on the scene. She’s one of the most interesting characters I’ve read in a long time, and I loved her intriguing powers. There’s a scene at the end (which I won’t spoil for you) where I was taken up in the story and could picture exactly what she was doing. She’s incredibly well-drawn.The only thing I have to say is that I would love to either understand why the love story parts of these books play out the way they do or else read the action parts without them. I’m not sold on how fast the angels seem to latch onto their partners and declare true love after one or two meetings, and there’s really no build-up to the sex. They just kind of launch themselves at each other. That’s ok, and I can forgive it pretty easily because the rest of the story is so interesting. I’m just wondering if that’s some kind of angelic superpower thing—like animal shifters finding their mates or something.I still love the relationship between the “brother” angels. It’s definitely well-developed, and you can feel their connection. I’m also a big fan of some of the complexities and exploration of gray areas—for such short segments, there’s a lot of depth. The cliffhanger at the end left me excited to read the next installment! On the whole, despite any other concerns, I really like this series and I’m anxious to see where it goes.

Another well written great story from author, Patricia Josephine. Josephine’s witting style has a smooth quick flow that drew me in and held my attention.I really like a story that starts with action, as this one does, then goes into backstory to fill us in on what has been happening and why. This is book two in the Path of Angels, following Michael. I was able to learn more about Zadekiel, as he is the main character in this installment. He is an interesting character as he battles with the mantel of leadership after Michael left. He meets a girl, Zephyr, who has her own set of quirks. She is not ready (who is?) to accept that there are really angels and demons in this world. The pair must be a winner as their names both start with Z! This story relates the struggles of the remaining three Archangels and their search for a lost book that has the power to release the devil on earth. These hero's, even though they possess wings and powers, have a very human side. They struggle with the same human emotions we all do, so it is easy to identify and sympathize with them. This tale ended in a cliff hanger, leaving me anxiously awaiting the next installment. Thank you, Patricia Josephine, for sharing your talent with us, and talented you are! A very good tale, interesting characters and a wonderful plot line.

Without Michael, Zade , Gabe and Joe are left to struggle on in the Path as best as they can. The going is tough and seemingly fruitless. Without Michael's superior talents, how can they hope to find the book that will free Satan?I did not enjoy this book quite as much as the first, but it was still good and kept me reading. Sometimes we are certain we know the truth about people and situations only to find that we are not quite the prophets we imagined we were. Religious certainty can be as much a burden as it can be a help. Once again Patricia Josephine takes a look at moral and religious issues and finds that the case is not as crystal clear and easy as some make out.

Marching Powder: A True Story of Friendship, Cocaine, and South America's Strangest Jail, by Rusty Young

From Publishers Weekly

This memoir of a British drug dealer's nearly five years inside a Bolivian prison provides a unique window on a bizarre and corrupt world. McFadden, a young black man from Liverpool arrested for smuggling cocaine, finds himself forced to pay for his accommodations in La Paz's San Pedro Prison, the first of many oddities in a place where some inmates keep pets and rich criminals can sustain a lavish lifestyle. The charismatic McFadden soon learns how to survive, and even thrive, in an atmosphere where crooked prison officials turn up at his private cell to snort lines of coke. By chance, he stumbles on an additional source of income when he begins giving tours of the prison to foreign tourists, a trade that leads to the mention in a Lonely Planet guidebook that attracts the attention of his coauthor, Young, who was backpacking in South America at the time. McFadden's unapologetic self-serving story will attract little pity as he freely admits to countless cocaine sales for which he was never held accountable. Once the authors chronicle the novel aspects of life in San Pedro, from which McFadden was released in 2000, the narrative loses momentum. The book would have benefited from some judicious editing and some objective perspective on the veracity of McFadden's story. Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. From Booklist

On a whim, Young decided it might be interesting to visit notorious San Pedro Prison in La Paz, Bolivia, so he signed up for an illegal tour. The tour guide was Thomas McFadden, an inmate who had been imprisoned for drug smuggling. They struck up a friendship, and Young bribed the guards to let him stay "inside" for three months, where he recorded the particulars of life in one of the world's most peculiar prisons. San Pedro is like a city: inmates must "buy" their cells from real estate agents, drug lords live in the high style to which they are accustomed, and the destitute, as always, live a hand-to-mouth existence. Like most cities, San Pedro is a lively if decidedly cutthroat place, and Young, who teaches English in Colombia, writes about it as if he were Joseph Mitchell prowling Greenwich Village. The book is filled with characters ranging from outrageous to inspiring, and Young layers on the texture--sights, sounds, smells--until we feel as though we have visited the place. Travel literature of a very special and captivating kind. David PittCopyright © American Library Association. All rights reserved

The book started well, and there were good passages in between, but I got the feeling I was hearing what we call in the South "twice told tales" - more of a tall tale than actual facts. The amounts of cash made, and some of the methods described, seemed more for an interesting story than actual reality. I don't regret reading the book, or the Kindle price, but I would not recommend it. NOTE: In the Kindle edition the pictures do not match to the captions.

The book is well written so it is a good page turner. Did I say that 100 pages could have been cut? It is really just a series of incidents. It is a morality tale however. Don't get busted for drugs in a Third World country. The dealer (hero?) does and what ensues is kinda crazy. I don't doubt that some of it is fiction but in all a fast paced read. There is way too much recreated dialogue however and the ghost writer puts a clean veneer on even the most insidious things. But still a good read. I hope the dealer has kept his nose clean. He sounds in the book like a decent enough fellow but his previous life as a dealer warranted a much longer sentence than he in fact ever served. I doubt the book will do much for Bolivia's tourist industry but considering the events that transpire that is just plain warranted.Books like this require you to suspend critical thinking and moral but...a good read nonetheless.

.Interesting book! It truly makes me think that I am quite happy traveling within the borders of the United States and Canada. This book.had my complete attention from the very start I am not completely convinced that some things the author writes about actually happened. However having never spenttime in a Bolivian prison as an inmate or a tourist I will have to take his word for it and owe to creative license. I would definitely recommend this book to others. It was very entertaining. It was also completely different subject matter from what I normally read. I did enjoy it.

If there was some value in this book, I didn't find it in the 30% of it that I read. Once you get the concept of the prison, just the same thing over and over again.

Two thumbs up for this amazing book. This story was absolutely riveting, I honestly couldn't put this book down. Very well written and one of my favorites. Thanks to Rusty Young for bringing Thomas McFadden's harrowing experience to life so vividly. I've already passed this book off to my friend who thought I was telling her about a Novel I read as I recounted the "amazing book I just read." When I insisted (again) that it was a true-story she demanded the book. I'm sure she will also love this book as much as I have. A+! 10-Gold Stars!! Job well done!!! BRAVO!!!!

A true story that will have you turning the pages. An interesting read, leaves you with questions. I recommend reading.

A bizarre and intriguing tale. I barely could set my Kindle down. Thomas and his encounter the San Pedro prison makes for a captivating story.

I would never like to be in this prison. Conditions unbelievable

From the Inside Flap

For anyone who's ever dreamed of ruling over their own empire, here's your chance! Micronations are imaginary countries that have a lot of the same things as real ones: laws, customs, history, and their own flags, coins, and postage stamps. Micronations: Invent Your Own Country and Culture takes readers step-by-step to create their own unique realm, using examples from real nations, micronations, and fictional lands. What makes a country a country? What symbols and systems define a country and help it function? Learn about geography and government, technology and the environment, art and culture, and the literary device of "world-building" used in works like The Hobbit and Harry Potter.Activities show readers how to create authentic-looking artifacts and documents such as maps, currency, passports, a declaration of independence, and a constitution. Kids get to invent their own language, music, games, clothing, food, and holidays to fit their micronation's tradition. Whether they create a land of time travel where every city exists in a different epoch or an underwater monarchy (motto: “Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles”) whose chief export is fish, Micronations: Invent Your Own Country and Culture will engage kids' imagination and teach make-believe rulers how the real world works.

This book is pretty good. It does give some amazingly interesting facts about nations and areas within nations. The projects are easy to use and easy to implement into my classroom. I am using it as an credit based system to build you own country the fastest and the kids are trying to get better grades just so that they can create a country and make it better then the others in the class. This book is very helpful for integrating Literacy into a Social Studies Classroom. I highly recommend it.

Using this book for a Micronations class. I plan on using many of the project suggestions. The information and extra fun facts will enhance my teaching.

This is so neat, I keep it in the library and do exercises with my students when I'm helping them brainstorm video game design ideas and "world building"

This is a great book. I have spent a lot of money on teacher resources, and this is one of the best ones out there. It has a good mix of history and activities for the kids. I had developed a pretty thorough unit for my students to create a civilization, and this filled in holes I didn’t realize I had. I’m very happy with my purchase, and I already recommended it to my colleagues.

Excellent, hands-on learning that is fun and imaginative. Lots of real-world issues and information compliment the topics in the book. Activities are scalable for very young kids to adults.

This is a wonderful book. Kids learn best hands-on, even better when their imaginations lead the way. In these pages they'll learn about civics, geography, and history as they create a passport, flag, coins, map, and more for a country they imagine into being.

This book is just a fun read and I have not tried to create my own nation, but it is fun to know. Maybe one day I will try it but not today.
