*This review is 100% my own opinion. It is a honest review.*We left off with Michael abandoning his duties to follow his heart and be with Lake. Now Zade is the one in charge. At a bar, Zade encounters Zephyr, a unique woman with colorful hair who is an automatic writer. She writes poetry and has no idea what it means. It often reveals secrets about people that they don't want her to know. When she lays eyes on Zade for the first time, a poem appears in her notebook that tells her "the path lies with dark eyes."In the previous story, we find out about a book the Fallen want so they can free Lucifer and let him have free reign over Earth and all souls. Well, Zephyr has written a book....I really liked the first story (Michael), but I loved this one ever more. The story continues where we ended it and it gets even better as the stakes rise. My two favorite characters are definitely Lake and Zephyr. They are different and developed so well. I also liked the peek into Zade's past that we were given.Another cliff-hanger ending, but the next story (Jophiel) is coming out soon. I already pre-ordered it! :)If you like angels, supernatural battles, action and suspense dig your talons into this series!NOTE: There are religious topics in these stories (homosexuality, abortion, atheism, etc.) I mention this only for anyone who doesn't like to read about these topics.
Zadekiel, the second installment in The Path of Angels, delivers just as much intensity and action as Michael did. Patricia Josephine does a wonderful job of creating rich characters whose strengths and weaknesses make them endearing. Zephyr's gift in this installment was one of my favorite nuances to the story. Strong follow-up to part one.
I read Michael, book 1 in the series, first, so I have a good grasp of this world and what’s happening. I think Ms. Josephine does an excellent job of world-building. She doesn’t waste a lot of time explaining every detail—she lets the story take care of it, for the most part. The second book both builds on and improves on the first one. I felt much more connected to the characters this time around. I loved Zephyr from the moment she walked on the scene. She’s one of the most interesting characters I’ve read in a long time, and I loved her intriguing powers. There’s a scene at the end (which I won’t spoil for you) where I was taken up in the story and could picture exactly what she was doing. She’s incredibly well-drawn.The only thing I have to say is that I would love to either understand why the love story parts of these books play out the way they do or else read the action parts without them. I’m not sold on how fast the angels seem to latch onto their partners and declare true love after one or two meetings, and there’s really no build-up to the sex. They just kind of launch themselves at each other. That’s ok, and I can forgive it pretty easily because the rest of the story is so interesting. I’m just wondering if that’s some kind of angelic superpower thing—like animal shifters finding their mates or something.I still love the relationship between the “brother†angels. It’s definitely well-developed, and you can feel their connection. I’m also a big fan of some of the complexities and exploration of gray areas—for such short segments, there’s a lot of depth. The cliffhanger at the end left me excited to read the next installment! On the whole, despite any other concerns, I really like this series and I’m anxious to see where it goes.
Another well written great story from author, Patricia Josephine. Josephine’s witting style has a smooth quick flow that drew me in and held my attention.I really like a story that starts with action, as this one does, then goes into backstory to fill us in on what has been happening and why. This is book two in the Path of Angels, following Michael. I was able to learn more about Zadekiel, as he is the main character in this installment. He is an interesting character as he battles with the mantel of leadership after Michael left. He meets a girl, Zephyr, who has her own set of quirks. She is not ready (who is?) to accept that there are really angels and demons in this world. The pair must be a winner as their names both start with Z! This story relates the struggles of the remaining three Archangels and their search for a lost book that has the power to release the devil on earth. These hero's, even though they possess wings and powers, have a very human side. They struggle with the same human emotions we all do, so it is easy to identify and sympathize with them. This tale ended in a cliff hanger, leaving me anxiously awaiting the next installment. Thank you, Patricia Josephine, for sharing your talent with us, and talented you are! A very good tale, interesting characters and a wonderful plot line.
Without Michael, Zade , Gabe and Joe are left to struggle on in the Path as best as they can. The going is tough and seemingly fruitless. Without Michael's superior talents, how can they hope to find the book that will free Satan?I did not enjoy this book quite as much as the first, but it was still good and kept me reading. Sometimes we are certain we know the truth about people and situations only to find that we are not quite the prophets we imagined we were. Religious certainty can be as much a burden as it can be a help. Once again Patricia Josephine takes a look at moral and religious issues and finds that the case is not as crystal clear and easy as some make out.
