Sarah Major has created another masterpiece for little children and their families! "Meow Said the Cow" is a must-have, adorable, funny, enchanting rhyming tale. This is part of the series of books featuring silly Auntie Lily. Young readers will giggle in delight when they see the pictures and hear the wonderful Rhymes. Auntie Lily helps them out because now and then she will tell you a true fact so see if you can find the things that are true. See if your children notice the way Auntie Lily helps you sort the silly things from the facts. There is also a little quiz in the back to see if little ones can fill in the blanks from the list of answers. This little book is simply irresistible so get your copy today. By the way, if you haven't gotten the first book in the series, "Have you ever Seen?" you should jump at the chance to purchase that too. Both books are sensational. I have no doubt you'll want to read them over and over again.Review by children's author Deanie Humphrys-Dunne

This is the second book in the Auntie Lily bedtime silly story collection. I liked it even more than the first. The lead character is a silly cow who tries to imitate other animals like a cat, hen, donkey, cheetah, monkey, snake and frog, to name just a few. In the process, children learn the characteristics of many animals. Rhymes are crisp and sharp, and the alliteration allows the sounds to roll off the tongue when reading aloud. Adults will enjoy this one as much as the children who are listening.Illustrations are vivid and expressive, allowing even the youngest child to clearly get the message. This book is a perfect choice for an older sibling reading to a younger brother or sister. Perhaps my favorite part is the riddle section at the end that asks the child to answer ten riddles. After reading the book a few times, many readers will be able to create their own riddles. This series is a clever, creative, interactive approach to learning. Highly recommended as a bedtime story or read aloud for toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary school age children.

Meow Said the Cow” is brilliantly funny. It engages the kids and their laughter is contagious. Actually, I am willingly admitting to the fact that I too enjoy the funny rhymes, the silly situations, and the perfect illustrations.Cows are funny.Cows trying to act as other animals. Hysterical.A cow crawling into a mouse hole. A cow racing fast like a cheetah. A cow slithering like a snake. A cow swinging off trees like a monkey. And much more.I’ll be getting the first book in the series, and hope it’s as entertaining as this one.

It put a smile on my face to see my Granddaughter snicker and giggle listening to the book and really loved the end with the cute riddles.she surprised herself when she got the answers right.I would really like to see more of these books, the illustration for a kindle book was awesome and I could read the words unlike some books you have to zoom in. .wonderful book!!

Love this book, very colorful and rhymes are catchy and fun! Highly recommend! Another excellent book from Mazor Books. Keep them coming, my family loves them!

Read with my e and I hear old grandkids and they say "It was super funny! "They liked it because it was ridiculous seeing the cow in different animal forns.

This is great kids book. And funny, too. My great granddaughter will love it. I can just hear her giggling away.

My grandchildren love this book. The rhymes make it very enjoyable for the ones under 6. I like the way it incorporates learning about different animals into a fun story. The riddles at the end are an extra bonus.

Design Thinking for the Greater Good: Innovation in the Social Sector (Columbia Business School Publishing), by Jeanne Liedtka

Review

This is a timely work in that it parallels interest in applying effective business principles and practices to the nonprofit and government sector. It also aligns business with the idea of doing well and doing good. (Toni Ungaretti, Johns Hopkins School of Education)There is no doubt in my mind that Jeanne Liedtka is a leader in the fields of design thinking, human-centered design, and innovation in general. (Reinhold Steinbeck, Center for Design Research, Stanford University)The process of design thinking can be applied to the normally conservative and entrenched public, social, and educational sectors to start to solve big messy problems. (David E. Smith, Center for Design Innovation)Taken altogether, Design Thinking for the Greater Good: Innovation in the Social Sector, is an excellent resource. . . . it serves as a practical guide for those who want to undertake organizational change from Innovation I to Innovation II, in a social sector environment that focuses on meeting human needs. (Brenda Sipe The Foundation Review)Liedtka, Salzman, and Azer’s book makes an important contribution in outlining some of the challenges and opportunities of applying design-thinking behaviors and mind-sets in the social sector. They make a case for increasing the capacity needed to scale the approach across the sector, provide a framework for practitioners to apply it within their organizations, and off er case studies of organizations that have done so. A great overview of methodology to bring innovation spirit into projects and organizations as a whole. Creating a culture is design needs innovation through confidence and team member pride is ownership. This is a good book to start understanding design thinking because the examples are concrete and real world, while the authors do their best to break down their meaning through lessons learned.

Great book arrived slightly late but overall happy with the product.

As a design thinking and social innovation educator, this book will make it so much easier to introduce our school's students and stakeholders to the work we're doing. A must-read for those who seek to co-create a better world.

Only 1 review? At least it is selling! The bane of my existence (well, one of them) is the number of people who claim to be 'expert' at things like the lean startup and design thinking. If empathy is at the core of DT, why do so many raging narcissists seem to be teaching it, even when applied to social innovation? LOL but...This new book is a clear remedy for that, even beyond its focus on social innovation & social entrepreneurship. I have read many books and articles of DT, including the best (and worst) and this now has a prominent spot on my "good" shelf. The books that I make sure other people read.I'm a huge fan of the d.school and IDEO (not to mention Tina Seelig) but Dr. Liedtka might be the best. She certainly adds a unique twist to DT and doing it for real. Check her youtube speaking for an hour to NASA... you will thank me. You will also thank me if you -- er, WHEN you read this. And even if you are a skeptic on design thinking but you are eager to promote social innovation... you want to read this. So many books that purport to tell you how to use DT to save the world... and so underwhelming. They read like the author skimmed a few articles and thought "I can write about this. I'm going to save the world."Liedtka does make DT in social innovation straightforward. Not easy... straightforward. You CAN do this, you don't have to be special. Now more than ever we need social innovators and social entrepreneurs - the triple bottom line demands it. Get started here.Battle-tested advice? Check. Sound, strong theory base? Check. Clear, strong prose? Check. A bargain price? Check. Finally, I've never met Dr, Liedtka in person but from reading her stuff... I know her. Not many authors in my world can do that. I definitely thank her for this. If I can answer any questions, holler!

How To Think Differently Than a Smart MachineJeanne Liedtka is a world renown strategic and innovative thinker. I have learned from all of her books on Design Thinking and this book co-authored with Randy Salzman and Daisy Azer is my favorite! Why? Because this book enables you and me as individuals and as members of non-profit communities to embrace a new way to approach life and work... a way that can create unseen possibilities that can improve lives - a way that helps us “escape the prison of our own perspective”. A liberating way to think and engage with others. This is a “how to book” that uniquely is both an individual and a social organizational roadmap to transcendence of human insight, problem identification, the generation of possibilities and human dialogue. As the Smart Machine Age engulfs us over the next decade, a key way that human beings will be able to add value is through imagination and innovation. This book contains the toolkit you will need to excel at being imaginative and innovative with others. And this book contains 10 engaging stories about how people working in governmental and social service organizations have used Design Thinking to make a positive difference - to have a positive meaningful impact for their stakeholders. This book can transform how you think, how you listen and how you relate to others. The power of living the “4 Questions” can be transformative for all of us.

About the Author

Lentin JosephLentin Joseph is an author, entrepreneur, electronics engineer, robotics enthusiast, machine vision expert, embedded programmer, and the founder and CEO of Qbotics Labs from India. He completed his bachelor's degree in electronics and communication engineering at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Kerala. For his final year engineering project, he made a social robot that can interact with people. The project was a huge success and was mentioned in many forms of visual and print media. The main features of this robot were that it could communicate with people and reply intelligently and had some image processing capabilities such as face, motion, and color detection. The entire project was implemented using the Python programming language. His interest in robotics, image processing, and Python started with that project. After his graduation, he worked for three years at a start-up company focusing on robotics and image processing. In the meantime, he learned to work with famous robotics software platforms such as Robot Operating System (ROS), V-REP, and Actin (a robotic simulation tool) and image processing libraries such as OpenCV, OpenNI, and PCL. He also knows about 3D robot design and embedded programming on Arduino and Tiva Launchpad. After three years of work experience, he started a new company called Qbotics Labs, which mainly focuses on research into building some great products in domains such as robotics and machine vision. He maintains a personal website and a technology blog called technolabsz. He publishes his works on his tech blog. He was also a speaker at PyCon2013, India, on the topic Learning Robotics Using Python. Lentin is the author of the books Learning Robotics Using Python (learn-robotics.com) and Mastering ROS for Robotics Programming (mastering-ros.com), both by Packt Publishing. This book is an excellent resource for someone who already knows a bit about ROS, but is trying to actually get something done with ROS.In the past, I have not really been able to get traction with ROS. The documentation will say you can do such and such but it won't fill in the middle pieces of how to get there in a way that I could make work. I would always get stuck on some mundane detail and couldn't get past it (like making URDF file for my robot, which he takes one through!) This book is that bridge from beginner to power user. It has a number of examples that can be built on, put together and leveraged to solve real world problems that robot builders want to solve: 3d mapping, leveraging OpenCV for face recognition, TensorFlow integration example that leverages a model so can id a number of standard items, VR goggles integration, speech etc. He also links one to a number of cool resources I wouldn't have known about except for this book, for example the TensorFlow model to recognize common objects. There have been several times when I have eureka moments when I think, "THAT is why ROS does it that way..."The book is in black and white even though color is necessary to understand some of the diagrams. There is a color pdf on the publisher site that helps there, kind of a pain though since if the book was color, I wouldn't need to download that. Fairly well done overall except for that complaint.I am excited that I finally have a resource to help me leverage what ROS can do. My next robot build will be a huge step forward simply because I have concrete samples that show how to leverage what ROS has been able to do all along.

The quality of print is terrible, and definitely NOT worth the price I got it for ($44.99). All the content is printed as black and white, but the pictures themselves require the color to understand. For example, some block diagrams are color-coded, and there is no way to understand them. Another example is when there is text on a "print-screened" image, that is supposed to be dark color, but the background is dark as well - very hard to read. Even starting with Figure 1 of the book: there are some pictures that are supposed to prove a point, but there is absolutely no way you can see what is depicted there because of the quality of the print.I will post a review of the content in a month or so, once I actually read it.EDIT 1: Changing number of stars from 2 to 3: There are a lot of online support materials. Also, the black and white print quality is offset by a color pdf file you can download on the book publisher's website. It makes it much easier to follow. Also, a lot of support material on the codes by the author

Excellent book with a very gentle ramp up for ROS and Ubuntu beginners that gets into very exciting projects. Well worth it.

This is a comprehensive book on robotics projects using ROS. Usage of ROS can help prevent reinventing the wheel by making use of already implemented functionalities. This book starts with a brief introduction to ROS based systems, then moves on to interfacing actuators and motors, then goes up to interfacing external electronics and sensors through embedded development boards. The book also gives a brief introduction to image processing and object recognition using ROS. A noted example is the tutorial on usage of deep learning using Tensorflow for object recognition. The book also provides ample examples on robot simulations using Gazebo. I shows the example architecture of a self driving car and provides simulation examples for s self driving car.It also shows some exciting VR and Web based examples which can be immensely helpful for a robotics software developer. This book focuses on getting things done by explaining solid examples. Kudos to the author and the publishing team.

It is really an amazing to consider to get aware and attain a good experience level with ROS. This book provides the detail description of every project and how it can be attained. Only a basic programming skills are needed in-prior. No one will regret buying this book. It is really useful.

Interesting book. It helped me for my MS thesis. Thanks
