I have been tiling for ablut 30 years and I havelong ago become bored with the run of the mill products available in the stores.This book gets your mind and creativity juices flowing to make something reallydifferent. I have a collection of tiling /mosaic books. Good one to add to yours as well.

I've always found Bobby's books to be right on the money and a great asset. I keep this one amongst the rest of his book at my mixing desk. It's a great go-to book when you find an unusual recording situation and need some insight as to where to place mics and what types of mics may sound better for a given situation. I recommend this book highly to people that want to learn the recording process. Check out his 4th Edition of his Mixing book to pick up the rest for when you get to the phase of mixing what you just recorded. Thanks Bobby for another great book!

Mixing Engineers Handbook, 4th edition is another solid book by Bobby Owsinski. No matter how long I’ve been at this every time I pick up one of his books I learn something new. I appreciate the practical advice that he provides in every section. I read these in the wrong order probably (Mix Engineers HB, Music Producers HB, Mixing Bootcamp & Finally Recording Engineers Handbook next up Mastering) but it doesn’t matter each one is definitely worth the $$. I've been in and out of studios since I was young & I've been teaching music technology/recording arts at a variety of colleges/universities/institutes for the last eight years. Mr. Owsinski's books and this one in particular are awesome for fundamentals as well as some more advanced concepts. They serve as a great resource/ lecture material to use with my classes. Highly recommended!

I haven't finished the whole book yet, but it sounds like an authentic book to me. In other words, I think this man know's what he's talking about, just by what I think I know comparing it to what he's writing, if that makes any sense. I like the way he writes, and I like that he gives opinions and examples of products and talks about them realistically. It seems like a very through book and I'm anxious to get back into it soon. Some of my fondest memories of childhood revolve around coloring. I would use crayons, paint, markers, pencils – whatever was handy. I colored in books, on plain paper and even on the occasional canvas that my mother gifted me. As I grew older, I grew out of that – or simply found other mediums to express myself. But not that ‘Adult Coloring’ is in, I’ve rediscovered it and I’m wondering why I ever stepped away. The term ‘adult coloring’ may seem odd, even demeaning, but it really specifies what ‘kind’ of books they are. These are not your average kids coloring book with simple lines and easy illustrations – no, these are complicated and swirling patterns that allow your mind to wander and find calm as you pen flies across the page.This one, ‘Inktangle 2.0’ is a combination book, both designed as a coloring book and as an icon hunt. While I haven’t pursued the icon part of it, I have seen them speckled across the pages and I could see how these would be interesting to some. I am more enthralled with the illustrations themselves. Echo’s of mandala with hints of modern design, each is different and stand alone. I found the coffee (or it could be tea) cup one and decided it was the first one I HAD to color. The thick paper stood up to the sharpies well, and while it bled through to the back of the page, it didn’t bleed to the next page – and since these are single sided pictures, it worked out perfectly. I humbly offer pictures of my effort.

Very interesting book! In addition to the intricate coloring pages, you have the opportunity to hunt for various hidden icons. When you find them, a puzzle is decoded!The only problem I found is that some pages are drawn with very heavy black lines and will surely use a lot of ink to print.

It’s so relaxing—you can lose yourself in simply filing it the blocks with your ink or crayons. I purchased the downloadable version, so I can print and reprint the pages as many times as I want, but I understand that the paper version is made of nice, heavy paper, which would be suitable for anyone who would like to frame their works of art.I was extremely pleased with this book—I also paint and draw, but sometimes I just love to color. I have Kindle Unlimited, which I would recommend all avid readers look into, and rarely buy books anymore. However, I now own this entire series because these books are addicting. Buyer beware. If you start you will probably be into buying them all.

I have enjoyed reading this series.I like the way it is written, and I like the story.I like the fact that one of the characters loves horses and loves riding, but does not want to show. And there are also characters who really enjoy showing. It is a nice balanced view that there can be more than one way to interact with horses.

I am enjoying this series very much. The characters have all made major live changing decisions. For the good. Cannot 2ait to read the whole series

As the holiday season approaches, so does the trip for the show season for Greer, Lockie, and Cam. Talia is left behind to manage Bittersweet Farm, and the fall-out from Victoria's scandalous new project. As I've come to expect from Ms. Morgenroth, the book is well written, and the story keeps evolving, leaving the reader anxious for the next installment in the series.

This whole series is an interestingly developing story, particularly about the world of horse training and rider training. It is taking a little too long to get from one installment to the next, but this one was probably the best yet. Interesting characters, good side stories, good development of conflicts and solutions of some of them. A little too much repetition, but I am waiting for the next issue!

As time for the show season comes so do the holidays. Locke,Greer and Cam are off leaving Talia behind to deal with what happens at Bittersweet Farm, and unfortunately Victoria and her scandalous new book are part of it. The story keeps evolving and does not disappoint in this well written book. Looking forward to Book 6.

Barbara Morgenroth writes for all ages. I've always loved horses and reading. The thing that impresses me about this author is that she can keep her stories interesting without explicit sex or gore. I am not narrow-minded at all, however, one of the first things that I noticed about her writing is that a ten year-old could read them without getting an early education. They show examples of positive behavior and kindness and compassion for animals that everyone needs to understand.

I bought this book (or to be precise, its Kindle version) because I expected an exciting history of Franklin's fatal voyage. And I was disappointed. Rather little of this book actually deals with Franklin's voyage, and little of it could be called exciting.In fact this book isn't actually about Franklin's voyage; it's about his ship. That ship--called Erebus--had an extensive career before its fatal trip to Canada, and most of the book is about that earlier history. This part of the book is filled with details about its officers and men, and their friends, and their wives and their wives' friends, and thus with a lot of talk about obscure personalities that no one cares about. There is also quite a lot of blather about the author's own visits to places that were once visited by Erebus, such as--surprisingly--Tasmania, which is a long way from Canada. Some people might be interested in the author's travel experiences, but I was not.Finally in the last one-fourth of the book we come to Franklin's voyage. But then there isn't much to be said about it, because there are no logbooks and so little is known. Instead we have a review of the many voyages that went in search, first with the idea of rescue, and later just to find out what happened. This is the most interesting part of the book, but there isn't much that isn't already well-known and familiar. And although the prose is fluent, it seems superficial, and lacking in incisive detail.Readers are warned that if you get the Kindle version, the maps are too small to be of any use.

Great well researched historic mystery novel. Loved it switching from 1800s to current with detail factual research

Over the years, I’ve read several books that involved the 19th century Franklin Expedition and the succeeding efforts to discover its fate. Some have been non-fiction accounts and others fictionalized accounts (The Terror, by Dan Simmons and The Surfacing, by Cormac James to name two). Having done so, I was familiar with the background story and the travails faced by the arctic explorers of the era.This work is a little bit different, because it doesn’t focus on the Franklin Expedition, but upon the flagship of that expedition, the HMS Erebus. It describes the work done to convert it into a polar exploration vessel and then spends a majority of its pages describing its first and most successful voyage, the Ross “discovery” and exploration of the waters surrounding the continent of Antarctica. It then proceeds to the Franklin Expedition and the subsequent efforts made to find and rescue its participants. It culminates with the recent discovery of the sunken vessel.The author of this book is Michael Palin, a renowned member of the British comedy troupe, Monty Python. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Palin is a very good writer. The book is well researched and presented. Palin intersperses the history with vignettes concerning his visits to many of the ports visited by Erebus, including its final resting place. All in all, a very commendable piece of work and entertaining as well.

Just about to close out another good year of reading and I think I can safely conclude this was my favorite read overall of 2018.It made a great companion to my watching of "The Terror" miniseries earlier this year.Palin's writing is entertaining, engaging, knowledgeable, and personal.Part biography of a ship, part narrative of British exploits at the poles in the 19th century, and part personal travelogue, Palin draws on and synthesizes a wealth of literature on the HMS Erebus's role in the successful Ross and doomed Franklin expeditions, brought to life with a generous use of first-person accounts from memoirs and personal letters.What really separates this book from others about the Erebus or the Franklin expedition is the deeply personal connection that Palin has to many of the locales described in the book, given his own extensive travels, and an empathy for the noted explorers, the ordinary seaman, and the families of the participants, as well as absolutely fantastic descriptions of the places.I listened to the audiobook and Palin's narration is wonderful.Definitely adding to my personal library.Highly Recommended.

Palin is a student of Arctic and Antarctic exploration in the 19th century. There is history of north and south polar exploration with emphasis on background of successive Erebus skippers James Clark Ross and John Franklin as well as background and development of the bomb class ships of the era. He provides insights into the development of magnetic navigation based on the astronomy of Gauss and John Herschel.The book documents attempts at finding the South magnetic pole and Northwest Passage culminating in loss of the Erebus and companion ship Terror in a third Arctic expedition in 1846. As we now know, neither goal was achieved, but many useful discoveries were made. Land and ice field discoveries in Antarctica set the stage for the better known expeditions of Scott and Amundsen. The Shackleton expedition is not mentioned.The book culminates in the poignant efforts to find out what happened. With notebooks found years after disappearance, bodies discovered in 1984, and the remains of the Erebus and Terror in 2014 and 2016 respectively. It’s personalized with the lives of the government officials, botanists and sailors as well as Jane Franklin, wife of the lost captain, responsible for perpetuating his memory. It’s the first history I’ve read in a long time that tells me 100% that I didn’t know beforehand. Kudos to author Palin for well written research.

This ships' story is well researched, compassionately told, and an exciting read. You will be taken back to the favorite book of your youth and once again be on the river or at sea. Michael Palin has bought the ship to life and basically sits the reader down and carefully and thoroughly tells the story.Very well done. Yes, it's that good.

Among other edifices of the Imperial New Delhi, Connaught Place was the place to be for specialized shopping and cinemas when I was a teenager in 1960s. My Grandfather was the engineer who had supervised the construction of the Dome of the Viceroy’s House when New Delhi was being built. My father was also in CPWD and was engaged in the construction of Lodhi Colony and other public buildings. I had developed a keen interested in the history of Delhi, due to my exposure to stories I had heard in my family gatherings.Swapna Liddle’s book is a capsule in time for how the new city was conceived, designed and built with the complexities of the vision of the rulers--and needs of the new India. Through this book, I have learned a lot about the thinking processes and the cultural considerations which happened behind the scene. For me the author has almost “peeled the layers of onion” for a better understanding of the genesis of the city, and particularly the transformation of Connaught Place from shopping by the elite to the casual—due to the presence of American soldiers during World War II, and changing of the political landscape.I would give this book 5 stars accept for the chapter about “Capital of India”. The author has ambiguously written about the death of the father of nation—without stating the name of Mr. Gandhi. The chapter also states about the violence against the Muslims, but does not clarify whether it was due to the death of Mr. Gandhi or the partition of India. The chapter also states that influx of refugees came from “the other side” of the border. History tells us that these were Hindus and Sikhs fleeing violence in Western Punjab "the other side". Also, the written sequence is incorrect: The refugees came mainly after 1947 partition, but Mr. Gandhi died in 1948. The context of these events could have been written with more clarity and accurate timeline.Overall, I enjoyed the book and it is now a part of my favorite collection of books on Delhi.
