My daughter wanted this journal for quite a while. When she got it for Easter, she was super excited. She has been carrying it around, filling in the pages. I'm not always a fan of Junie B, but my kids have loved the books. I think anything that gets kids reading and writing is a win.This isn't a regular book. It's written like a journal, with pages filled out by Junie B and other pages that are ready for your child to fill out. I think this will be a really cute thing for my daughter to look back on later and see what she filled in.
I bought this for my 7yr old son for Christmas. It's the 26th and he has it completely filled out. lol I'd say it's love. He has been begging for this book for awhile. I actually found it to be a great writing resource. The book has where "Junie B." filled out the journal, then the next page is the same journal entry with blanks for the reader to fill in. It basically gives an example before they do it. As a first grade teacher, I endorse this method. ;) My kid just thinks it is fun.
My 7-yr-old daughter received this for Christmas during a Christmas vacation trip. It was great to help her fill some of the time away from her home and toys. We love Junie B! The journal is adorable. It's perfect to help jump-start journal-writing. At the age of 7, having a blank journal is a bit intimidating...what to write? where to start? But this journal prompts you with topics on every page and in a very humorous manner.I love adding little pictures of family, friends and my daughter's teacher (we cut out from extra pics we had laying around or I printed off extra copies from the computer.) It's just such a cute addition to the pages as you turn them (photos are not suggested on every page though so no worries there.)My daughter loved filling in the pages about her favorite things, what she likes to do in her room, favorite food, the rules she would put into place at school, her ideas for better names for all of her family members (she would have named me "Polly") and writing about all of her friends (I was fortunate enough to get into her classroom a few times this year and happened to snap pictures of all the kids so it made it easy for my daughter to select pics to include of her friends). She giggled throughout each page and was excited to share her work with us when she was done (although some of it she has kept private.) One of the favorite pages must have been the one for her to write about her idea of a perfect birthday celebration and the page about the things that make her happy.Such a wonderful book to hold on to for years to come...a snapshot in time of this precious age. I will cherish this forever (or until the time she moves out on her own and takes it with her...unless she'll let me keep it in my memorabilia box.)This has become a good birthday gift to give other 7-year-olds for their birthdays (especially when I, as the mother, don't know these kids well enough to know what they already have at home.)(I like the other reviewer's comment about this book needing to be spiral-bound so it can lay flat - great idea; however, it's not so bad that my daughter has had a tough time writing in it. The binding is still intact and it does lay close-to-flat even without being spiral-bound.)
We bought her the "entire" collection of Junie B. Jones for her birthday, or so we thought. After further investigation we learned there was a "secret book." Although she was excited about the collection she received, she still didn't have the "entire collection." Thankfully we were able to order it on here, because we couldn't find it anywhere else. Who would have thought that a book, after all the toys she got on Christmas, would be her most favorite gift. She thought it was so cool to be allowed to write in the book. She giggled with every letter she wrote. Junie B. Jones is a huge hit in our home!
My little sister loves it. It wasn’t written in like others said in their reviews — make sure you aren’t buying a used one!
My 8 year old step daughter loves Junie B and she has loved this journal. It was her first real journal and it was helpful that Junie B had filled out her page and it gave my step daughter ideas on filling out her page!
Really cool journal, my daughter loved it, but I guess the fact that it's 60-70% filled out was pretty weird to me. My daughter wasn't too bothered by it though, but I'm thinking if I go back through this when she is much older it's going to take away from the memory. I would absolutely, and still may, buy this book new. My 7yo loved the journal.
My 7 year old was very disappointed after getting her book and finding someone had written in the book, in ink so she couldn't erase it.So, not too happy!!!!!!
